Public Meeting – Video Highlights

The meeting at the Queens Hotel on Sunday 18th October was a great success. So much of a success that some people may have been unable to get in or clearly hear the speeches. Our film crew was there to make a recording of the events.

Annabel Sydney the Chair of the Picture Palace Campaign opened the meeting with a brief history of the campaign to date and why it is important that the old art deco Rialto Cinema building at 25 Church Road retains the D2 planning usage.

Clare Binns, the director of programming from City Screen shared her experience of the impact that a local independent cinema has had in Brixton not just as an interested party but also as a resident of Brixton and Streatham.

The Reverend Andrew Rumsey spoke to the Cinema for Crystal Palace public meeting about the need for a cinema at the 25 Church Road site. He also read out a statement from the local church leaders detailing their support for the cinema campaign.

The Right Honourable Malcolm Wicks MP (Croydon North) addressed the Cinema for Crystal Palace Campaign public meeting and gave his support for the restoration of a cinema at 25 Church Road.
